MASTER DEPTH OF KNOWLEDGE

Since I was young, mastering my school education was always a personal priority. By achieving straight A's in middle school, high school, and currently in college, I have demonstrated my strong work ethic to master course material. My strong work ethic was shaped by attending St. Rita and Ursuline Academy, a private Catholic middle school and high school, where mastering course material was highly sought and highly expected of students. However, while attending schools with excellent educational programs is one achievement, succeeding in Honors courses is an even greater achievement. Therefore, my desire to challenge myself in demanding Honors courses demonstrates my ability to go above and beyond to master a depth of knowledge. To the right is a picture of me proudly holding my six Junior year awards given by my high school to the top students in each course. Finally, mastering a depth of knowledge is more than just learning material. Mastering a depth of knowledge involves synthesizing knowledge from across courses and experiences and applying the knowledge gained to every day experiences, problems, and decisions. Below are some examples as well as button links to more information.
Working hard in school to master a depth of knowledge requires personal determination and passion. My engineering and honors courses have challenged me to develop study habits that allow for quick learning and effective time management. Without these skills, I would not have achieved my current 4.0 GPA.
Additionally, my passion and love of learning have allowed me to synthesize knowledge from across my courses and experiences. For example, my interest in my Organic Chemistry course has allowed me to make connections between the compounds we study and the compounds in food, skin care products, and pharmaceuticals. It is fun to look at ingredient lists in products to see how many compounds I can identify from my Organic Chemistry course. |
Because of my outstanding achievement in my math courses in high school and college, I have become a Math Tutor to help other students master the subject. As a math tutor, I can help other students succeed and
gain confidence in their classes. By helping other students, I also help myself
reinforce the subject matter. Additionally, tutoring has enhanced my
communication and problem-solving skills because I often have to find different
ways to explain mathematical concepts to students because every student learns
differently. Even more, I have sharpened my time management skills, since
students often ask me to squeeze in an extra hour to help them during the week.
Tutoring is a rewarding leadership position that allows me to help others
but has also made me a better student.
